Welcome to the website of award-winning author Nora LeDuc!
A native New Hampshirite, Nora LeDuc, always loved books and thanks her family and Memorial High School English teachers. Often when she finished reading she’d imagine sequels in her head with one important difference from the original. Now she would have a starring role in the plot.
Exposed to a wide variety of literature, Nora never planned on becoming a writer. In fact, she began reading romances at a late age when she simultaneously was working two part time jobs in the field of education, in which she holds a degree, taking a course, and caring for her husband and two children.
Looking for an entertaining diversion, she visited one of Annie’s Books stores and discovered the romance section. Soon, she devoured all of the historicals by Johanna Lindsey, Julie Garwood, and Amanda Quick. Next, she expanded into contemporaries.
Her life changed even more when she logged onto the world of romance on the Prodigy Romance Board in the early 1990s. Here she learned about Romance Writers of America and became a member. She ordered the magazine Romantic Times, and one day read an ad for editor Katherine Falk’s new book on how to write a romance.
Like a bolt from the blue, Nora decided this was her calling. Instead of committing her for a Rest to regain her senses, her husband and two children cheered her onward. Their only question was, "How soon until you’re published?"
She joined the New England Romance Writers and served as their PAN Liaison for two years. She and Lori Levesque founded the NH Chapter of RWA and served as their first vice president.
But the road to a first published book was a bumpy one paved with rejections, discouraging and encouraging critiques by fellow writers, and many writing conferences. But Nora refused to let go of her dream until one day become published.
Ten years later Nora finally became a published author with Kensington Publishers. Her first historical was Miss McNeal’s Pirate. This was followed by another historical Always My Hero.
Her family celebrated the publication of her first book by traveling to bookstores throughout the state and taking pictures of her book on display. Funny though, when the pictures were developed, they all looked the same. Nora was standing in front of a book display pointing to her book.. But her joy and excitement shone through in each picture making them a personal treasure.
With the completion of her first contemporary GIFTS FROM THE HEART, Nora will have her first ebook and print version from Whiskey Creek Press in June-July of 2005. Her latest book is Pick Up Lines for Murder.
